wThe Whine Column
I'll try to keep the actual whining to a minimum, I promise. But this is where I'll rant about work, stupid people and the like, plus make mention of the random interesting things in my life. Email me at quizbabe at yahoo dot com if you want to whine back.

So, I've finally broken down and started a blog. What, you might ask, was the impetus at this particular point? Well, my job has been getting me down lately, and this seems like a good place to rant about that. Though working at a newspaper does have its upsides -- reading the Associated Press wire right at my desk (not really part of the job, but it never hurts) being one of them. There have been a few articles lately that have piqued my interest and would make a good starting point for discussion. Of course, they're at the office and I'm at home, so the discussion (such as it is on a non-interactive Web site) will have to wait.

Sure, I'll also post about what's going on in my life, but don't get too excited. My life isn't all that interesting -- not usually, anyway.

Chances are if you are reading this, you already know me. But on the off chance someone who doesn't know me has stumbled upon this site, here's a bit of an introduction. I'm 26 years old, married, living in the Boston suburbs, and I work at my hometown newspaper (not my current home, my original hometown). I won't name it here, so that people searching for it won't come up with my blog instead and find out some of the inside dirt on the paper and its staff.

That's really all you need to know for now, I think.

Oh, I should explain about the name of this blog. It's work-related, actually. The paper I work for runs, on the food page every week, a column from a guy who owns an area liquor/wine store. The column is usually about wine (though occasionally will be about other alcoholic beverages), and it arrives to us by email. When I fetch the email and filter it into our database, I let the food editor know it's in by saying, in my whiniest voice, that the wine column is here. So I thought it might be fitting to call this The Whine Column since I'll probably do more than my fair share of whining.

Not sure when I'll write again ... stay tuned!
